چکیده

We consider a problem of optimally scheduling users in cell boundaries, where the users suffer from the interference from neighboring base stations (BSs). We propose new scheduling schemes that mitigate inter-cell interference through a coordination between two BSs to utilize some of the best known achievable schemes for the interference channel (IC) in information theory. In the proposed scheduling, the transmitter opportunistically chooses one of the achievable schemes depending on the instantaneous channel conditions of all users. We consider three scheduling schemes, i.e., full coordination (twoway coordination between two BSs), partial coordination (one-way coordination), and no coordination, and compare their performances. We show the proposed schemes with coordination achieve higher throughput over the conventional scheme without it. Index Terms Interference channel, opportunistic scheduling, multi-user detection

Improving Throughput and Fairness on the Downlink Shared Channel in UMTS WCDMA Networks

A resource scheduling scheme is presented to improve throughput and fairness for NRT packet data traffic on the downlink shared channel of a UMTS WCDMA network supporting multiple services. The proposed Fair Resource Scheduling (FRS) scheme takes into account link conditions to enhance throughput and provides fair resource sharing among traffic flows. FRS includes service priority handling duri...

Joint User Scheduling and Power optimization in Full-Duplex Cells with Successive Interference Cancellation

This paper considers a cellular system with a fullduplex base station and half-duplex users. The base station can activate one user in uplink or downlink (half-duplex mode), or two different users one in each direction simultaneously (full-duplex mode). Simultaneous transmissions in uplink and downlink causes self-interference at the base station and uplinkto-downlink interference at the downli...

Joint Allocation of Computational and Communication Resources to Improve Energy Efficiency in Cellular Networks

Mobile cloud computing (MCC) is a new technology that has been developed to overcome the restrictions of smart mobile devices (e.g. battery, processing power, storage capacity, etc.) to send a part of the program (with complex computing) to the cloud server (CS). In this paper, we study a multi-cell with multi-input and multi-output (MIMO) system in which the cell-interior users request service...

Downlink Wireless Packet Scheduling with Deadlines TO APPEAR IN THE IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON MOBILE COMPUTING

Next generation cellular wireless communication networks aim to provide a variety of quality-ofservice (QoS) sensitive packet based services to downlink users. Included amongst these are real-time multimedia services, which have stringent delay requirements. Downlink packet scheduling at the base station plays a key role in efficiently allocating system resources to meet the desired level of Qo...
